Repair before replace
If the metal is sound, a repair is the right call and we say so. Most of what we get called out for is hardware, slope, and fascia, none of which requires new gutter to correct.

Sagging, leaking, and gutters pulling off the fascia are usually a repair, not a replacement. We will tell you when it is the other way around, but we are not going to sell you a whole system to fix forty feet of it.
A gutter that leaks at the corner and a gutter that has pulled away from the house are two different problems, and only one of them is really about the gutter.
When a run drops or separates, the fascia behind it is usually soft, and screwing the same hangers back into the same wet wood buys you one season. We check the board, replace what is rotted, and rehang on reinforced hidden hangers at proper spacing. Seams and end caps get resealed or resoldered depending on the metal.

Standing water at one end means slope. Water down the siding at a corner means a failed miter. A steady drip behind the gutter usually means missing drip edge at the eave, which is a roof problem.
We inspect, photograph what is failing, and put the repair in writing with no obligation. You see the same pictures we do before deciding whether to spend anything at all.
Repairs are diagnostic work first. Anyone can run a bead of sealant in a corner. Finding out why that corner opened up takes getting on the roof and looking at the whole edge.
Four questions. You get a straight read on whether this is a repair, a replacement, a gutter job or an insurance claim, and where to go next.

If the metal is straight and not corroded through, repair. Sagging, leaking seams, and loose hangers are all fixable and cost a fraction of replacement. Replace when the gutter is rusted, dented along most of a run, or so undersized that it overflows even when it is completely clean.
It usually means the fascia behind them is wet or rotted, which is worth knowing about regardless of the gutter. We pull the section, look at the board, and show you photos. Reattaching to soft wood without fixing it puts you right back here next year.
Yes. Copper gets soldered, not sealed, because sealant on copper fails long before the metal does. Older half round and box gutter systems we handle as well, though matching a discontinued profile sometimes means fabricating a section or replacing a full run so the line stays consistent from the street.
Almost always a roof edge issue rather than a gutter issue. Without drip edge at the eave, water clings to the underside of the shingle and follows the fascia down behind the gutter. You end up with a rotted board and a gutter that tests fine.
Emergency calls go to the front of the line, and an active leak into the house counts as one. For a normal repair we schedule the free inspection first, give you the written estimate with photos, and book the work from there. No pressure on the call.

A seamless run, a new downspout or a re-pitched trough still fills with leaves, seed pods and shingle grit. Cleaned on a schedule, gutters drain the way they were built to. Every visit we clear each trough by hand, flush every downspout and check the hangers and pitch. We don’t install gutter guards. See why.
