Who we are

Roofing and Gutter Ethics is a family owned roofing and gutter company working across Northern Virginia and the Fredericksburg area.

The name was a deliberate choice. Roofing has a reputation problem, most of it earned by people who sell a replacement when a repair would have done, or who quote from the driveway without ever getting on the roof. We built the company around not doing that.

Every job starts with a free inspection and photographs. You see the same evidence we do, and you get told plainly whether the work is needed. Sometimes the honest answer is that your roof is fine and you should call us again in three years.

Questions

About Roofing and Gutter Ethics

Do you actually do the work, or do you sell it and hand it to a subcontractor?

We do it. We both sell and perform the work ourselves, which is genuinely unusual in this trade. Most of our competitors sell the job and pass it to a sub they have never met, and a good share of what we get called out to look at is what those crews left behind.

Are you licensed and insured in Virginia?

Virginia license 2705155080, CertainTeed ShingleMaster certified, and fully insured on every job. Ask any contractor for both and ask to actually see them. If somebody uninsured is three stories up on your property and falls, that can land on your homeowner’s policy rather than theirs.

Where does the name come from?

From being willing to tell you not to buy something. We talk people out of gutter guards most weeks, and out of full replacements they do not need yet, and it costs us work in the short run. It is also why we get the call two years later instead of somebody else.

Do you have more than one office?

Two. Springfield at 7420 Alban Station Blvd, Suite B 202 covers Northern Virginia, and Fredericksburg at 806 Westwood Office Park, Suite 108 covers the region south of it. Same standard and same documentation, separate crews and separate Google review histories.

What is CompanyCam and why does it keep coming up?

Every job gets photographed start to finish and the record is stored indefinitely, with a link that is yours to keep. Most of a roof is invisible the moment the crew drives away, so it is the only way you can actually verify what you paid for. It also transfers to a buyer later, which is worth more than people expect.

Is somebody going to try to sell me a new roof?

Not by us. The inspection is free, you get the photos either way, and if the honest answer is a repair we say repair. If the answer is that the roof is fine, we say that too and leave.
