We install standing seam and metal panel systems in aluminum and copper, detailed properly at the valleys, penetrations and edges, which is where metal roofs leak when they leak at all.

Is a metal roof noisy in the rain?
Not on a house. The noise people remember is metal over an open barn with no decking beneath it. Over solid decking and underlayment in an insulated attic, a metal roof is no louder than asphalt.
Will it dent from hail?
Aluminum can dent in severe hail, though it rarely affects performance. Heavier gauge and standing seam profiles resist it better. Copper is softer and marks more readily.
Does metal make a house hotter?
The opposite. Metal reflects a great deal of solar radiation rather than absorbing it the way asphalt does, which usually lowers attic temperature in summer.
Can metal go over an existing roof?
Sometimes structurally, but as with asphalt we tear off first. Going over hides decking problems, and we will not warranty work installed over a substrate nobody has seen.
