Rot gets replaced
Aluminum over soft wood hides a problem and holds the moisture in. We probe the trim first and replace anything punky, then wrap. If we find rot we show you the photo before we do the work.

Painted wood trim is a maintenance schedule, not a finish. Wrapping it in bent aluminum ends the repaint cycle and keeps water off the wood, as long as the wood under it is sound first.
We bend aluminum coil on a brake at your house so every piece fits the trim it covers, instead of forcing stock lengths to work and caulking the difference.

Trim wrapping is judged at the corners and the reveals. Anyone can cover a flat board. Getting a clean hem at a sill, a tight return at a brickmould and a joint that sheds water instead of collecting it is the part that takes a real sheet metal hand. We photograph the wood before it is covered so you know exactly what you are wrapping.

Every window and door is a little different, especially on older homes. Forming the metal in your driveway means the piece matches the opening, so reveals stay even and the caulk line stays thin.
Coil comes in a wide range of colors and we match the trim or the gutter. We keep the metals compatible too, never copper against aluminum, because dissimilar metals corrode where they touch.
Trim wrapping looks simple from the street, so here is the detail that separates a wrap still holding a crisp line in twenty years from one that lifts and stains in three.
Four questions. You get a straight read on whether this is a repair, a replacement, a gutter job or an insurance claim, and where to go next.

It protects sound wood from rain and sun, which is what ends the repaint cycle. It does not cure wood that is already rotting, and covering wet wood makes it worse because the moisture has nowhere to go. That is why we replace bad boards first and put it in the estimate.
Coil stock comes in a long list of standard colors and we can match trim, siding or gutter. Bring us a sample or we will pull a chip on site. Matching an older custom paint color exactly is not always possible, so we show you the closest options before ordering anything.
The metal itself will outlast the paint job it replaced by decades. What fails first is usually the sealant at joints, or the wood behind a wrap that went on over rot. Done on sound wood with proper hems and laps, it is a finish you stop thinking about.
Yes, if the wood under the paint is solid. Peeling paint by itself is a coating failure, not a structural one. We scrape the loose material so the metal sits flat and check for soft spots with a probe. Anything spongy gets replaced instead of covered.
Same thing. Capping, cladding and wrapping all describe covering exterior wood with formed aluminum. Some contractors use vinyl or a coil so thin it will not hold a shape. We use aluminum heavy enough to keep a crisp line after it comes off the brake.

When a gutter backs up, water spills over the back edge and sits against the fascia, soffit and trim until the wood goes soft. New boards last when the gutter in front of them stays clear. Every cleaning visit includes a look at the roof edge, with photos.
We will walk the house, probe the trim, and give you a written estimate covering what gets replaced and what gets wrapped. The inspection is free with no obligation.
