Fix what is behind it
Soft sheathing and rotted trim are replaced before new siding goes up, with photos of what we found.

Vinyl and fiber cement siding installed over proper house wrap and flashing, with trim, corners and windows detailed to keep water out. Serving Culpeper and all of Culpeper County.
Siding on Culpeper homes takes weather from two directions: summer storms that drive rain sideways off the Blue Ridge, and long humid summers that keep any trapped moisture behind the panels from drying out. On older homes the problem is usually rotted sheathing and trim under tired siding. On newer ones it is often flashing at windows and roof lines that the original crew never installed.
New siding is the one chance to fix what is behind it. We strip it back, replace soft sheathing, install house wrap and flashing properly, then side and trim the house so it sheds water the way it should.

Windows, doors, roof to wall joints and penetrations get flashing and tape, the details that decide whether siding keeps water out.
Both have a place. We compare look, durability, maintenance and budget for your house and let you choose.

It depends on the house and the budget. Vinyl costs less and needs little upkeep, while fiber cement looks closer to painted wood and stands up better to impact. On older homes the look of the original siding matters too, and we walk you through it.
We do not recommend it. Covering old siding hides rot and traps moisture, and the flashing at windows and roof lines never gets fixed. A full tear off lets us see and repair the wall.
Insulated vinyl and a properly taped house wrap reduce drafts and improve comfort. The bigger gains usually come from air sealing and attic insulation, and we tell you honestly where the money does the most good.
